About Shawn

Shawn Tempesta is a self-taught artist who has painted with oils since her teens and created jewelry for the past 30 years. She moved to Bandon in 2008 with her husband after retiring as an RN. They were drawn to the Southern Coast of Oregon because of the dramatic shoreline and incredible wildlife.

 

​Having previously lived in Guam, Hawaii and on sailboats in California, Shawn loves to capture her love of the ocean in her art and jewelry. She states, ‘’The ocean has always dictated where I live and it’s what inspires me to create.  I strive to capture it’s essence  in how I think, move and create. My paintings almost always have water in them, whether it’s the ocean, a lake or a river. And I’m thrilled when finding a beautiful stone that needs to be transformed into a piece of jewelry to be cherished by someone it calls to, or to see a sunset that gives me shivers. I want to capture those feelings.’’ 

Shawn works in several mediums and her artwork and jewelry is available at Art by the Sea Gallery and Studio, and at Second Street Gallery, Bandon.
