About Janice
From her obituary:
It’s with love in our hearts that we say goodbye to our dear friend, Jean Stephenson. Jean was a founding member of the gallery and was the President of Art By the Sea from 2012 until last year. Jean passed away on December 30 after having recently moved to Vancouver, Washington, to be closer to her family.
Jean was a dynamic woman who had a fiery spirit, a love for life, and an adventurous spirit. She was an accomplished artist and teacher who touched and enhanced the lives of many. She has been instrumental in making Art by the Sea a success over the past years and has volunteered her time unselfishly to help others in the community. Jean has always been a respected mentor and cornerstone of our gallery. She will be dearly missed by all of us, and by all of those whose lives she touched.
Janice’s previous Gallery Bio:
I have been a practicing artist since the late 1970's. I currently live in Bandon, Oregon where I'm a member of an artists' cooperative Art by The Sea Gallery and Studio.
My art is highly personal and often contains deeply felt emotions, controversial subject matter and questionings of a philosophical and spiritual nature. I work in a variety of mediums, but most often in assemblage, watercolor, pen & ink, collage, and plaster embedded gauze for body sculpting and mask making. Currently, I am working on pieces reflecting the stunning coastal environment where I live.
My work is available for solo and group exhibits. I do commissioned works, consultations, teaching and art therapy. I would be happy to meet you for discussion regarding any of these areas.

The work displayed here is a representation of the artist’s work and these pieces may not be currently available.
