Alan Remele
I retired in 2005 and about the same time started to painting. I started using oils then moved to acrylics. I now use both mediums for different purposes, and sometimes use acrylics first to lay down my values and then finish in oils to get more of that blending effect. I like to think of myself as an expressive realist. I use my photos as a guide to the subject matter but I try to capture the mood or story in my painting.
Most of my paintings depict a scene or place that my wife and I have been to in our travels to complete a marathon (26.2 miles) in all fifty states. I guess I do like to paint Lighthouses, but I am willing to try any subject.
