Sandra Heinzmann
Sandra has an M.F.A. in Acting from the University of California, Davis, and has been a Professor of Theatre for over 30 years. She has acted and directed on both coasts and internationally. Her emphasis has always been with experimental, new works, Shakespeare, and multi-media performance.
In 2010, a friend asked her to join a pottery class. Since then, the friend disappeared but she remained in the studio, fascinated by everything clay.
She has been working with throwing on the wheel, handbuilding, nerikomi (colored clay), sculpture, and experimenting with various glazes and underglazes. Her work is colorful, fanciful, and sometimes absurd.
In 2021, trying to elude a plague, fires, tornados and hurricanes, she landed in Bandon with her husband, Peter, to find her final destination. She is delighted to be a part of Bandon’s Art by the Sea Gallery and looks forward to evolving in her new life, and with her new Tribe.
