Barbara Lebiedzik

Art By the Sea Gallery is pleased to announce that Barbara Lebiedzik will be the Featured Artist for October, 2023

About the Artist

Barbara and her husband Jozef retired to Bandon in 2014 from Colorado. Shortly after their move, Barbara took a class at ABTS and was impressed by the art in the gallery and the artists she met. At the time she enjoyed weaving and, with encouragement, applied for membership in ABTS. It was an amazing choice. Weaving was a 25-year hobby which had its beginning on a small farm in PA. Farm life began with 3 horses, two wonderful sons and lots of day to day responsibilities. Gradually the family added chickens, a cow, pigs and baby lambs. The lambs were adorable. Had definite personalities and were given names. Henry, our little Southdown, thought he was part dog, so he would shake hands with everyone. Since we could not eat our pets, we had them sheared and Barbara learned to spin their wool. Thus began the journey into fiber arts and weaving. Professionally Barbara has BS and MS degrees in psychology and sociology from PA State University. She has worked in research at the University as well as counseling in the PA Mental Health System. With the move to Colorado in 1989, She worked for over 20 years at Boulder Community Hospital building and managing their Outpatient services in Behavioral Health.

Joining ABTS put art and weaving at the forefront and has been an exciting nine years of improving my skills, while enjoying the support and encouragement of all the fine artists in the gallery. In addition, the beauty of living in Bandon brings joy and hope each day.
