Earl Robicheaux, World Wide Photographer

Art by the Sea Gallery is proud to have Earl Robicheaux, one of 3 Art by the Sea Photographers as its Featured Artist this July, 2023

About the Artist

Earl Robicheaux has been actively engaged in photography for almost 30 years and has produced an inventory approaching 500,000 images, of both film and digital works. He Initially concentrated on nature and wildlife but quickly broadened his scope to include travel and scenic interests what he loves shooting mostly these days. Since becoming part of the Bandon community 16 years ago, he has been able to capture a lot of precious moments in the Bandon area and along the Oregon Coast. Earl has been successfully published by a wide range of magazines and book publishers in addition to various stock agencies. (He had a good July as two of his images were published this month Here). He has very much enjoyed being a part of the Art by the Sea Gallery these last 4 years.

For Earl’s Featured Artist show during July, he has chosen an eclectic group of images that he takes great pleasure in sharing with the Bandon community. One very particularly piece will be a 6 foot panorama of the Lennon Wall from Prague in the Czech Republic. The Lennon Wall has great historical significants as it was the scene of protests since the 1960’s, it played a pivotal roll during the Prague Spring and the subsequent repression in the 1960’s and 70’s. It was named after the Beatle’s John Lennon following his death. The wall is living art as it continues to be painted over with messages to John Lennon and with different expressions of love, peace, and other messages reflecting the current times. The wall is a little over 100 ft long and the full wall picture is a blended panorama of 9 separate images. The full image is over 8 ft long while the image on display represents around 3/4 of its length, the heart of the wall. At the left top of his display at the Gallery is a 30x20 early morning shot of the Chapel of Panagia Theoskepasti, in the Southern section of Santorini, Greece.

Beside it is another 30x20 image on aluminum which Earl fondly calls “James Dean at Dallas Mountain Ranch in his 39 Chevy”. It is an image taken in the late evening during the spring when the arrowleaf balsamroot are in bloom.

Next on the wall are my two existing pieces, the framed 24x18 soft print of “Tommie Si”as it rests in the Charleston Slough and the framed 28x22 inch print of a lobster boat at Middle Point Cove Nova Scotia. Between these two is my 16x20 aluminum print of the very popular Japanese Maple tree from the Japanese Gardens in Portland. It is perhaps the most photographed tree in the world and it is amazingly small. On some days in the fall one has to stand in a long line to get a couple of shot of the tree.

Below are the images at the bottom of the Featured Artist section. The are from left to right, the “Love Truck” taken at Salvation Mountain in Southern California, the 14x11 image of the “Hammer Time” from Cape Code and a couple of wood boats at the Wooden Boat Center in Seattle.

The last selection represents images that will be on the side wall. From Left to right, “Water Patterns.’ from Venice, a couple of sail boats from Puget Sound, a door and window from Santorini, Greece, an old Ford Falcon from a Post Town in South Dakota and Tulip Field colors from the Skagit Flats in NW Washington
