About the Artist
Chris Bailey grew up in Idaho, where he developed a passion for nature and art at an early age. He studied graphic design in Pocatello and then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he painted and worked in the printing industry for more than 35 years.
Chris’s abstract works are based on organic elements such as leaves, rocks, dragon flies, and feathers that he studied carefully before placing them onto vibrant backgrounds or into dynamic whirlwinds of color and shape.
His approach is inspired by the patterns of nature and the complexities of living beings. He absorbed elements from nature while backpacking, rock climbing, biking, and fly fishing. He also studied religious philosophies, such as Taoism and Buddhism, wrote Haiku poetry, and took a great interest in people and art from different cultures and backgrounds while travelling through countries such as Thailand, Turkey, Croatia, Italy, and France.
Chris was reluctant to show or sell his works. In October 2022, his mother Joanne entered a few of his pieces into a local art show, where he received the peoples’ choice award. Unfortunately, Chris passed away shortly afterwards due to complications from skin cancer. The Bailey family will donate a portion of the proceeds from this show to cancer research.
